Bill Eidson
Biography and Background
Bill Eidson is the author of the thrillers, The
Little Brother, Dangerous
Waters, The Guardian,
Adrenaline,
Frames Per Second, One
Bad Thing. His latest novel, The
Mayday, is the second in the Jack Merchant and Sarah Ballard
series that premiered with The
Repo.
Bill was born in Savannah, Georgia and grew up in Rhode Island.
He graduated from Boston University in 1978, and has worked in advertising
and marketing communications at Digital Equipment Corporation, and
Cole and Company in Boston. For the past nine years, he’s
worked as a full time novelist and freelance marketing communications
writer.
His fast-paced thrillers often focus upon the dangers that lurk
just beneath the surface of “normal” life. His novels
are set in Boston and throughout New England. Three of Bill’s
books have been optioned for movies, and foreign editions have been
published in the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, and Bulgaria.
Being an avid sailor, Eidson’s stories often contain an element
of the sea. Of The Repo,
the review in The Boston Globe stated that, "Eidson writes
with appealing aplomb. His dialogue has the ring of overheard conversation,
and we feel the breeze and smell the air as his characters pursue
their prey."
As a cancer survivor, Bill is active in the Pan
Massachusetts Challenge cycling fundraiser for the Dana Farber
Cancer Institute. Through his long-distance cycling, he’s
raised approximately $35,000 in the past four years and was the
keynote speaker at the 2002 check presentation to Dana Farber.
Bill is also a former President of the New England Chapter
of the Mystery Writers of America. He lives in the Boston area with
his wife and son.
